For those of us who have to work with documents on a regular basis, one of the main document types that we have to work with is the PDF. PDFs are fairly standard not only in the office but just about anywhere. This is because PDFs are very useful in many different ways. Since PDFs are not truly text files but rather a type of image, they can be manipulated in ways that other files cannot. This makes them ideal for creative minds. The only issue with PDFs is that you can’t just open one and start editing and changing everything. This is because to work on a PDF, you will need a special type of program called a PDF editor. There are many reasons you might want to use a PDF editor beyond simple editing. Although PDFs can seem annoying to people who are new to working with them, once you get the hang of using a PDF editor or PDF editing application, it will not only be easy but fun. So, what can we do with PDF editors exactly?
PDF editors can be found as an online utility or downloaded and used on your device. They are used to open, view, edit and enhance PDFs. Having the right PDF editor can make all the difference when it comes to working on a project that is in PDF form. There are more PDF editors than you can really imagine at this moment, and they all have a range of tools (some more than others). And these tools are used to manage, edit and work with PDFs. Some of these tools include but are not limited to the merge PDF tool which is used to take two or more PDFs and merge them together into a single file. The split PDF does the opposite of this and splits a PDF into different files. In addition to this, there is the compress PDF tool, redact tool and many others. The lack of tools isn’t the issue. The only real issue is deciding which PDF editor to use. No matter if you are using Adobe Acrobat, Lumin PDF, or Small PDF, if you have the right PDF editor, there are a few limitations to what you can do with your PDF document. So, once you have your PDF editor, what can you do with your PDF that might need editing?
- How to correct typos and change data
When working with PDFs, one of the first things that you should learn to do is some basic editing. Depending on which PDF editor there might be some slight differences but overall, the experience will largely be the same. To edit and correct PDFs, one of the first things you should do is make sure that it is the right kind of PDF and that it is searchable. By using an OCR, you can make the text editable, and this will make it possible to proofread or correct. From there it is just a matter of going through the text and changing typos or making other alterations that are needed in order to perfect the document. Once the document is edited, make sure to save your work!
- If you need to erase the whole area, what do you do?
We all want and hope that our documents are perfect from the start, however, that is just not always the case if we are being honest with ourselves. So, this means there will be times when we need to make not just edits but some major changes such as removing a whole area of text or media from the PDF. Again, make sure that your PDF is editable and that you can change text, and find the area that needs to be removed. Once you have identified the area that needs to be removed, you can simply highlight the area by clicking and dragging. Then you can simply press the delete key and poof all gone! Make sure that this is what you need to remove though since once the file is saved, this information will be gone.
- Insert links
When working with files, sometimes we will need to show where our information comes from and a good place to read more information might be. When working with PDFs, this can be done in the form of hyperlinks that can be inserted into the text. If you need to do this, find the best place to insert a link and highlight it. From there you can right-click and depending on the PDF editor you are using you will then be presented with the option of inserting a link into the text you have selected. One example of this would be if you are writing an article about how to use the PDF merge tool and you want to insert the link to where it says merge PDF, you can.
- Is it possible to move pictures? Yes!
Moving images within a PDF is rather easy but be careful. When moving an image, it is as easy as opening the file and finding the picture or other media that is present in the document. Having found the image, you can “grab” it with your mouse by clicking and holding it. Then you can move it as you need to but be careful since this might create some sort of distortion in the page or cover some text. PDFs are image files at their core so adding, moving, and editing images is not a problem.
How to Edit PDFs on Your iPhone or Android Device
One of the other benefits of working with PDFs and PDF editors is that you can work on them anywhere and on multiple devices. If you are working on an Android or iPhone you can still open a PDF file on your PDF editor and being editing and altering your PDF as you might need to. Having the ability to work from anywhere makes PDF editors a necessary and important tool in the business world.
